Naomi Eyers
Born in Adelaide South Australia, Naomis singing career has spanned nearly two decades and the four corners of the globe, and she has performed in some of the worlds best venues and alongside some of the biggest names in music. She studied music at Flinders University and jazz performance at Elder Conservatorium. Her career first took flight in Sydney, where she performed as a live and session vocalist, making regular appearances on such shows as Hey, Hey, Its Saturday, The Midday Show, The Mike Walsh Show, Johno and Danno Show. There she joined the band Supermarket, performing with them regularly at The Basement and on the Sydney Jazz circuit. In 1986, she conceived and created one of Australias most successful musical acts, The Fabulous Singlettes. With the Singlettes, Naomi toured Australia and gave numerous TV performances before going to the Edinburgh Festival, where they were named Pick of the Fringe by the BBC, and nominated for an Olivier Award in 1988. The Singlettes quickly became a familiar feature on the London landscape, playing for three years in various West End theatres, the Royal Albert Hall , The Palladium, Wembley Arena, appearing with Tom Jones, Dionne Warwick, Shirley Bassey, and at the Royal Variety Show. They were also familar faces on British TV, including Live at the Palladium and their own specials on BBC and Channel 4. They released their live album Stop in the Name of Love in 1989. In 1991, Naomi left the Singlettes to resume her solo career, beginning with her solo show Naomi Eyers Lets Her Hair Down in the West End. She formed her own band with some of Londons finest musicians--Tony OMalley (10cc, Kokomo) Neil Hubbard (Joe Cockers Original Grease Band, Brian Ferry) , Andy Newmark (Sly and the Family Stone, Eric Clapton) to name a few. Through the 90s, she was regularly featured at Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club (appearing with artists such as Arturo Sandoval, Delfeayo Marsalis, Andy Sheppard) the 606 Club and other London Jazz venues and on the continent. She continued to do session work both in London and Europe and performed as a guest vocalist on jazz, soul, and dance albums and internatonal tours.Though now settled back in Adelaide Hills with her husband and daughter, Naomi continues to tour Europe with the Fabulous Singlettes as well as solo performances in London. Melissa Langton
Melissa’s versatility as an entertainer is highlighted by her unique performances in cabaret, music theatre and on the concert platform. She is renowned for devising and performing her own cabaret shows alongside her husband and Musical Director, Mark Jones, including CAN YOU HEAR ME UP THE BACK?, I GOT THE MUSIC IN ME and WHAT'S NEW PUSSYCAT? Her shows ME AND MR JONES and WHAT DO YOU THINK OF ME SO FAR? were both presented in New York and Dublin. ME AND MR JONES has also featured at The Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Sydney Cabaret Convention, the Auckland Festival, and The Famous Spiegeltent at the Melbourne Festival. In 2005, Melissa returned to the Adelaide Cabaret Festival with A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE. In 2006 she returned to the Melbourne cabaret scene with NO ROOM TO SWING A CAT, which then toured to His Majesty’s in Perth. Her theatre appearances include JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, LES MISERABLES, CRUSADE, THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, THE MIKADO, HMS PINAFORE, BRIGADOON, MARRY ME A LITTLE, CALL ME MADAM, SIDESHOW ALLEY, AFTER THE BEEP, EUROBEAT (onstage and as Assistant Musical Director), CAROUSEL (in the role of Nettie Fowler), WE WILL ROCK YOU (Killer Queen) in Japan. More recently she has appeared with The Productions Company in 42ND STREET (Maggie Jones), FOLLIES (Stella Deems) and DAMN YANKEES (Gloria Thorpe). Melissa enjoys workshopping new Australian musicals and has been involved in workshops of AFTER THE BEEP, THE BLACK WIDOW, SEVEN DEADLY SINS, SIDESHOW ALLEY, LIFE BY DROWNING and MARTIN AND GINA. In concert, she has appeared with THE AUSSIE POPS ORCHESTRA and is a regular soloist each year at HATS OFF. Melissa received 2002 Green Room Awards for Best Cabaret Artist and Best Cabaret Ensemble (with Mark Jones) and was the winner of The 2001 Sydney Cabaret Convention. On television she appeared on The ABC in THE DAMNATION OF HARVEY McHUGH and was a regular soloist on GOOD MORNING AUSTRALIA with Bert Newton. She has featured on a number of recordings including JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR (Cast Recording), PIRATES OF PENZANCE (Cast Recording), PINAFORE (Cast Recording), and INSIDE ED’S HEAD (Eddie Perfect).
